About me and my involvement in AA2A:

I’m just about to complete a BA in Fine Art at the University of Wolverhampton.

I a conceptual artist and visual photographer whose practice consists recently of sculptural installations and predominantly digital photography.

Visits to museums and art gallery’s over the years have inspired my varied conceptual themes and abstract artworks. I became particularly intrigued by the symbolisation of fruit within Dutch paintings on a visit to Amsterdam. This lead me into researching more into the symbolic nature of fruit, which I’d observed within master oil paintings, and as a result the Lemon became my metaphor for the unheard interests of people in these modern times.  Today, freedoms are becoming increasingly limited as a result of the constant restrictions being imposed in customary red tap. The growing network of parking restrictions in the form of painted lines is one such example that I chose to focus on. My work can be seen as a form of passive resistance within which I test and question the status quo. I hopes to highlight the growing problems of control effecting our everyday lives that maybe going unnoticed and encourage more people to question the world around us.  Bright connecting colour is predominant in my work and an implied tension is visible within the relationship between two unrelated materials in sculptural form; this marriage of materials seen from new angles evokes a curiosity in the viewers. The resemblance to everyday subjects is important as I wish the viewers to feel a personal connection to my work.
