About me:

My ceramic work often takes the form of social comment. I frequently use historical models as reference or mixed with contemporary influences, subverting familiar forms to represent something other than their intended design and function. Humour is a consistent strand within the work. I like to explore the absurd, the provocative and the satirical.

The AA2A Scheme will allow me to research & develop a new body of work inspired by York Art Gallery’s vast collection. Accessing the college’s facilities will enable me the freedom to experiment and play in a way which I’m currently limited, given the equipment that I have access to.

Developing a full new project within the time allocation would enable students an opportunity to witness and follow all of the creative decisions I make, also the way I prepare the research I conduct for every project undertaken, this research has become increasingly important to me and makes up a vital key to the way I work, deeply influencing my directions.

I’m keen to spend time interacting with Students and staff and would benefit greatly from being in a busy creative studio environment after spending long periods working solitarily. I am willing to share my knowledge and techniques with others and open to discussing and offering advice of my experiences to date. I hope to create a three way stream of information and creativity between myself, the college and the Museums Trust.
