My work is about testing and exploring the reaction of mechanical processes upon objects and materials. I like to consider the work as a quasi-scientific set of on-going experiments, where I continue to push the creative ‘reactional’ ideas of sound and physics. I work with all types of materials varying from found objects, recycled motor parts and otherwise interesting objects that may have previously had use as ‘active matter’.

Things I have been getting on with.

Here are some links to some 3d Prototypes I have been working on. They demonstrate a 360 degree of a 3D drawing animation of some sculptures. I intend to 3D print them and place motors inside of them. They will have the ability to join together and be assembled in various ways with the aim to cause different reactions. I would like them to bounce and gain a momentum that defies gravity in some erratic way.

I have considered Brownian motion and Renaissance-Era Geometry When building and desighning the sculptures.

This in particular "Perspectiva Corporum Regularium (Perspective of regular solids), created in 1568 by German goldsmith and printmaker Wenzel Jamnitzer (1508–1585)"

What I have done so far.

I have been working towards building  a serise of robotic sculptutres that demosrate random free movement. I am particularly interested in how these things will react in a space and  the different momentum patterns that may occur.

This is an elastic powerd kinetic sculpture. It works by winding up the two modular parts then when they are released they go into a short spazum of random movement.

Here are A number of Short videos showing the development and build of the Elasic powerd robot Sculpture.

Had a good few days so far.  I am still waiting for my Laser cut prototyp to come out of the fab lab but have started to work on a fold away project so I have spent the day at the yard cuting up wood. and reading. allso got a good link for my blog from felow AA2A artist www.bridgetteashton.co.uk.

If you want to see my Reserch blog here it is http://leemcdonaldart.blogspot.co.uk/

Good bye for now.

Ok  so I spent all night In the liberary on Wendsday/Thursday and managed to get loads done.

I applyed to a number of festivalls with the hope to  take my art work concept Sonic room and build a more portable manageable vertion of this.

I updated my reserch blog with a few videos and photos relivant to my practice. folow the link if you want to have a look http://leemcdonaldart.blogspot.co.uk/.

I managed to get a prottype drawn up on illistrator and sent to the laser cutter to be cut out so I am excited to see how it turns out next week.

I all so looked at some books and read a few pages of FRANCIS ALYS A STORY OF DECEPTION.

So good by for now.

What I hav been up to so far.

I have been working on an application for some time to work on some roboitic sculptures with the robotics department at Plymouth university.

On my page you will find a few picturs demostrating were I am with the project.

The Sculptures will be a way of demostrating kinetic movement and chance to finde out how shapes and matereals reacte within them selves and in a space giving the sculpters a chace to gain momentum but with the intention to have the momentum as random and as changing as posible.

So far I hav done a number of drawings to try and figure out the best aproch to building these things and how I want to build the sculptues and what they should look like and concidering how they need to be asembled.

With the advice from one of my piers Rachael Allain I have decided to build a number of small working prtotypes using Ilistrator and the laser cutter to explor the movement of shapes. I will then start to introduce other materals and technology threw out the aa2a.

Had an Interesting time talking about my practice and showing a few vidios of my work and talking about some of the artist That influenced my practice.

here are a couple of links to some of the stuff I talked about.
