Project summary:

I am a ceramic designer maker who dreams of playful tableware! I have explored a technique called ‘modular moulds’ and reinterpret two images with Kidult and Kitsch sensibility, inspired by board games, toys and Asian artifacts. I believe that this process can present a possibility to the modern market trend of incorporating the inevitable fate of craft called ‘technique’ into design and producing small quantities of multiple varieties.

My recent work is inspired by humorous parts in which are naturally defined, and expressed differently in social perceptions frequently founded in toys and animations. Also they are inspired by ancient crafts that did not have uniformed design. In addition, I am exploring original forms created by combining digital media such as CAD and 3D printing with models and mould productions.

I believe this residency will be an opportunity to continue to explore and develop my design future. Furthermore, I believe that the possibility of development can be explored through the combination of traditional techniques and modern technologies in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of industrial ceramics.
