Project summary:

2023 AA2A Environmental Summer chosen artist: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cv7OlCJoWy3/ *thank you!

My artistic practice challenges the conventions and histories of the textile and fashion industries, showing how waste materials can be re-used, re-interpreted and given new meaning. This highlights the importance of circular economies and how global manufacturers could help reverse the climate crisis. My artwork straddles drawing, textiles, printmaking & sculpture; I create large-scale ephemeral works, which are often made and shown outside of typical art spaces. My investigative approach draws upon my innate interests in colour science, building new materials through print and women working in industry and how collecting from, walking in and observing from nature can create new dyes, palettes and material mimicking through print on surfaces.

During my AA2A residency at UCLan I will be engaging with the textile collections at Touchstones Museum, Rochdale. My project research will combine my new development of lithography print with colour chemistry and reusable textiles.
