Project summary:

I am a painter, specialising in mixed media collage on paper. My dedication to making art is paralleled with an enthusiasm for education and collaboration of ideas and working practice.

In the last thirty years I have exhibited widely in Britain, Eastern Europe and the U.S. I studied in London, Manchester and Glasgow and have lived, worked and taught art in places far from home, including a year in Australian art colleges as visiting art lecturer and three years in Gdansk, Poland on a British Council/ Polish Government Postgraduate Scholarship.

Since moving to Devon seven years ago I have had numerous solo shows, primarily in South Devon and at the Brighton Art Fair. I am also one of the original 'Bunker' artists, having exhibited at each of the three Bunker Projects near Salcombe. Running art workshops privately for adults and in primary and secondary schools, I am a registered workshop leader for DAISI, Barefoot, TR2 and – until recently - SW Gifted & Talented Education.

The two main resources I am gleaning on the AA2A scheme, connecting perfectly with developments in my work, are space and people. So far I have been fortunate in not only securing an unusually large space to work in, but have also had the opportunity of working with an outstanding 2nd year Film student, as well as some Drawing, Painting & Printing first years. The size and open plan nature of the space has enabled me to pursue what I am calling the "Tide Mark" project. Inclusive and collaborative, the aim is to encourage students, staff and visitors alike to make a mark on the evolving wall and floor art piece. From conception, "Tide Mark" has been documented photographically, and one outcome, of many, will be a short film.
