Red vase

This is a textural acrylic painting onto canvas of a large vessel with a diamond pattern and violet flowers.

The past few years has brought my attention to how we define home or belonging and the spaces we inhabit and the experiences we have within those spaces and more recently has focused on everyday objects such as vases and vessels. I became interested in how they become a 'second home' for flowers, an 'inbetween space' where the flowers exist between life and death.

My work has been interested in sharing queer and working class stories and objects for many years now and my interest in rural spaces as sites of privacy for queerness to exist historically and the queer symbolism within botany continually inspires the work I make.
