Project summary:

I'm Rebecca Travis (25) an artist, arts writer and curator based at my home studio in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

My work is fundamentally an investigation into surface, material and site through a variety of media including 35mm slide projection installations, drawing and book making. Since graduating from Newcastle University in 2011 I have completed my first solo exhibition Controlled Ruin with the Armstrong Studio Trust, an international residency with Galeri/Miz in Istanbul and have co-curated and participated in Built Around You, an artist residency, exhibition and events programme in an empty house in Heaton.

In addition to my studio practice I am also a writer, regularly contributing articles to Corridor8, a-n interface, CANNED magazine, The Flaneur culture blog and This is Tomorrow.
