Project summary:

I make art that pays attention. Art that listens and tells stories. Through adaptable objects and live events, I make interventions in public space that inspire curiosity and invite conversation. I playfully ask serious questions, investigating lines of supply and control, and looking at the way in which certain stories come to dominate our understanding of a place.

As an artist who creates live work in the public realm, there is often little physical trace left from the projects I make. Through the AA2A scheme I intend to create a series of pamphlets and prints exploring key themes in my practice: ecology, place-making and the permeable boundaries between art, science and activism. A pamphlet is a ‘brief work dealing with questions of current interest’ and is a form traditionally used to disseminate a political argument. I will use this as an opportunity to reflect on the projects I have undertaken in the past year and experiment with ways of sharing moments from the live work through text and image.

The AA2A scheme will offer facilities that I cannot usually access, and allow me the luxury of experimenting with different methods of design and making. A key part of the scheme is the opportunity to re-enter the community of an art college and develop dialogue with students and tutors from the art school and other disciplines.
