Project summary:

I am pleased to accept the AA2A opportunity to develop a new body of work that explores new visual territory both in its aesthetic and mode of expression and presentation. I plan to use Foiling Techniques and Materials with the schools extant technology in Laser Printing. My practice shows this can be done. I wish to complete 3 editions from new proofs for exhibition in December.

The artworks stem from my experience with Gilding with Gold Leaf and Holographic Foiling materials and processes. Commercially this process is expensive to execute and even more difficult to gain ‘hands on’ access to. My aim is to create new work within the studio environment with the appropriate equipment at my disposal.

During the pandemic closure I have converted my Kiln for fusing glass for ‘Decal Printing’, adding a new dimension to my visual vocabulary. Consequently I have devoted my time to creating digital prints for various substrates, including Film, Translucent Paper, Dichroic Film and Glass.

I have 10 prints, including 2 in 3-D accepted for the first ‘Press & Play’ exhibition at Phoenix Arts, Brighton, opening throughout December 2021. The proofs of the newest works are yet to be editioned, hence the need to complete the task. This is a ‘real world’ example of what you must do and when you must do it!

I am also currently showing a new A3 print in ‘Without Borders’ in Elysium Gallery, Swansea, Wales. The image is printed on both sides of translucent paper, CMYK colour on the verso side, Black Line on the front. The show is touring to Japan, Canada, Norway, USA and Venice, Italy. More than 300 works are included by artist from around the world. It feels great to be invited to be part of such a group.
