My practice is largely concerned with experimentation, and I am at present engaged in a long-term project exploring the boundaries between two and three dimensions. To date this has primarily encompassed an examination of drawing and its definitions, and now painting. The first of these experimental paintings "3D painting No.1 (experiments with colour reflection)" is shortlisted for the 2010 John Moores Contemporary Painting Prize.

I intend to research, develop, and make new works from a number which are currently at preliminary stages. These involve a number of materials and processes. The manufacturing facilities and access to research resources at the University will, at the very least, help me to realise these works in a realistic timescale, and offer the means to take aspects of the work in a direction which would not be possible without these resources. This opportunity will allow me to significantly extend my options to explore processes, to complete a number of pieces of work; to have principle elements of others on the way; and to achieve important research objectives for future works.
