Project summary:

As a freelance artist I also have other work that takes me away from creating art . Sometimes justifying working on my practice can become lost in the necessity of making a living  and finding the balance between creating and making a living can at times fall into a spiral of not working . With a focus or goal, other people to work alongside , dedicating time to creative practice becomes easier. Work develops and ideas flow, and progress is made.  Currently my work takes place in my garage and a small studio at Higherford Mill, Barrowford. In both places I have little equipment . This can restrict my ambition , or slow down strands of development I may have due to lack of facilities. Being part of the AA2A project would allow me a focused time, in a stimulating environment , that would provide me focus I need to develop a body of work fit for exhibition. My work at this point is quite a wide-ranging mix of print, collage and textile . Often work combines all these elements into assemblages. I would like to use the print and textile facilities to develop a body of work that could be the start of a collection which would be able to develop into an exhibition . I would begin with an exhibition at Higherford Mill, where my studio is situated. And then refine the work to enable exhibition opportunities elsewhere .
