Location:

Project summary:

I am an artist based in Leicestershire and have a studio at the Leicester Print Workshop. My work involves various techniques, including printmaking, painting, live and participatory work. The themes in my work are concerned with human relationships to nature, in the context of the modern technology driven environments we inhabit. I hope to develop new work whilst on placement at Loughborough that extends my ‘Wheel’ series of work. The ‘Wheel’ series explores our relationship to ‘work’, how work relates to the natural environment.

In light of the recent pandemic, I want to make a work that allows people to reflect on and express how they see the value of various fields of work in contemporary society. I would like to explore new materials and processes to develop the new piece, possibly using clay or another sculptural material. The work would be a live and participatory work, so I would love to work with students as a volunteer live audience to test pilot studies and get critical feedback.

My background is in Science, and I would really enjoy expanding my knowledge of fine art through attending some of the lecture programme and using the library facilities at Loughborough. I would also make use of the printmaking facilities to create prints that sit alongside and support the live art work. I hope that the time at Loughborough will result in a new piece of work developed and ready to deliver to a wider public audience, either locally or further afield.
