In my drawing practice I use drawing as a means for exploring spaces. I weave areas of knowledge such as filmmaking, architecture, and technology to make this act of drawing tangible. A Canadian, who has settled in the UK, I often find that I try to connect new spaces with old places from my home town; teasing out sanctuaries of comfort.
My current work reveals how we are shaped by our bonds with particular places; both mentally and physically. I am interested in how the spaces we occupy and move through reveal the shape of our everyday habits. Our bodies create ‘sub-spaces’ drawn while performing these rituals. I hope to recreate these embodied sub-spaces for others to explore to, perhaps, find comfort or connection to their own familiar places.
