Printing on Clay

Drawing patterns onto acetates to make some print screens from.

My first screen is made and ready and, once dried, ready to be printed from.

Trying out a mixture of glaze stains with acrylic print medium to see whether this will work. Also whether to print directly onto clay or off-set print via a sheet of paper.

First set of test tiles sereen printed on clay using underglazes is a promising start.

Once the underglazes have been fired on I've gone over them with more underglazes to combine the printed surface with handdrawing pattern elements.

My next step is to see how this screen printing process will work on curved surfaces that aren't flat. And actually, this is again promising for my kind of work.

Spent another morning in the print studio screen printing onto different papers as I want to trial using them to offset print onto clay instead of direct printing.

Off-set printing tests onto curved tiles reveals that it really doesn't matter at much what paper I print on but depends on the amount of water and pressure I apply when transferring image to clay.

Final fired testtiles where I've combined screen printed elements with handdrawn underglaze patterns. I am really pleased with the overall results.
