Project summary:

I completed a Masters degree in Design and Applied Art at Wolverhampton University and achieved with Merit. I specialised in hot glass and created a conceptual body of work which was an abstract representation of the mind and how it is affected by Alzheimer's. Using traditional Venetian caneworking techniques I encased twisted cane in cup casings and folded and manipulated the blown glass forms to create curves and pockets or chambers when cut open.

I have chosen to develop this body of work further using applications of silver leaf for reflective qualities and experimenting with background and wall mounting pieces.

This opportunity is also about promoting the glass facilities at Dudley College. I want to work with the students and help them develop their skills. Having ten years teaching experience has taught me that working with others helps to fuel my own creativity and there is nothing better than sharing ideas and trying them out.
