Previous AA2A Artist

Marianne Holm Hansen

Year:
2012-13
Project summary:

I work across media including writing, drawing, photography and video. With a focus on representation and its interpretation, my practice explores, employs and exploits existing systems, established methodologies, behaviours and habits to question how we come to experience things as we do and how an awareness of this may open up the potential for new experiences to form.

Often responding to specific sites and situations, the development of the work itself includes aspects of independent studio practice, research, collaboration and conversation. The latter most often takes place through commissioned events or self-initiated participatory projects that provides a forum for the exchange, development and assessment of work and its ideas. In line with this, I continuously work with diverse organisations, museums, galleries and art schools, to deliver workshops and projects around particular collections, subjects, disciplines or themes. From here, both in particular and in general, I'm interested in what art does and can do if its making, display and interpretation is approached as an opportunity to engage in critical conversation towards new ways of thinking and doing.

At Camberwell I'll be working with photography and letterpress towards the development of new works relating to situations where language falters or, entirely, fails.
