Project summary:

During my time on the AA2A scheme I will create new work as well as large scale pieces inspired by mythology and storytelling through symbols and totemic objects. Exploring analogue and digital methods of creating prints and sculptures through the hand of the creator and the way modern machines can mimic manmade imperfections. Merging traditional methods of print with modern machine the repetitious acts of printing as well as in design creation. Like cave paintings would tell a tell through finger painting to block and screen print to digital printing the evolution of image and language allows me to find new ways of creating and sharing tales. My work records movement and documents performative actions – the hand that creates the action, fire that reveals, water which is the purifier and eyes that perceive: through the exploration of totemic objects and symbols. Through layering and editing images together she collages narratives and weaves dreamscapes. Being able to have time to research and refine work while having access to equipment that can assist me to work on a larger scale is invaluable in allow my artwork to progress alongside the creative community at Sunderland.
