AA2A Artist

Malgorzata Misiak-Orlovic

Year:
2018-19
Project summary:

My art jewellery practice is a reflection of my creative sensitivity which is directed both inside, towards my relationship with my personal history and experiences, and outside, towards my understanding and perception of the outside world. These two strands, seemingly distant and at best parallel, are in fact very tightly interwoven and mutually permeating. During my residency at the University of Hertfordshire I will be exploring both these areas in two simultaneous art jewellery projects.

As interesting as it is going to be to observe each of the projects develop towards finished objects, it is going to be equally exciting for me to see how the two ideas feed into one another and how that influences the direction of the projects at each step. Could they eventually merge into a single project, or produce some shared outcome at all? What would be required for that to happen? Would that be desirable? What would it say about my practice? What would it add and how would it influence my future work?

The residency will help me create and inhabit this special, dedicated space for intense, sustained creative work and development of my art jewellery practice. The stimulating environment of creative co-existence and, inevitably, collaboration with people around me will help me amplify the outcomes of my work and will offer most valuable feedback and exchange of influences. The technical support and access to facilities will make accomplishment of the project possible in the first place.

My expectation is that the work completed during my time at the University of Hertfordshire will lead to a noticeable strengthening of my profile in the field of art jewellery and will create new creative and professional opportunities for my future work.
