Project summary:

I am a ceramic designer maker making ceramic homeware that is inspired by my passion for nature and a love of ceramics. I am passionate about ceramic processes and find using a mixture of traditional skills and industry techniques create interesting collections. As well as creating the ceramic objects I love decorating my pieces by layering glazes and screen-printed enamel decals. My latest project was based around creating watercolour wash effects in glaze and layering with prints generated from my watercolour paintings of wild flowers. At New Designers 2018, I won the National Trust Artisan and Craft Prize and as a result I am creating an exclusive range that will be stocked in their shops local to Staffordshire.

The opportunity is allowing me to develop and create the new shape designs for this project and to develop and produce the decoration. It will allow me much greater control developing my designs into finished ceramic pieces and help me create a stronger body of work.

I will also be exploring ceramic materiality, through glaze and its application and ceramic print. I would also like to explore fabric printing as although a familiar process to me to results are very different and unique to the material.
