My core practice involves designing and making ceramics. I have developed a reflective design process, in which I shift between contextual research, drawing, and experimentation with materials and processes. I take a minimal approach to form, favouring simple thrown or slipcast vessels that act as canvases for my surface designs.
Natural forms and surfaces, in particular the eroded textures of the British coast-line, provide the underlying inspiration for my work. All my pieces explore the relationship between line and form in some way. I am also fascinated by the interplay between the edges and surfaces which comprise the ceramic vessel form.
