AA2A student rep experience
The experience of being a student representative for the AA2A has been invaluable to me. Through assisting the artists with blogging and updating their dotbiz sites I have learnt more about their working practices. This has built into having regular dicussions with the artists about their current projects and my own, getting professional insights into my work and helping me...  show more
Printing from the plate
It has been a challege photographing this with the awful lighting, but the edition from the large plate is too big to scan. This will definitly be displayed in my degree show along with another large plate that I am currently working on and one of the smaller prints.  show more
Aluminium plate lithography
Some process shots for a 35x25inch plate lithograph I have just finished drawing up. It is another composite monster, consisting of squid tentacles, coral and goose wings. AA2A Graduate Pack Review
As reps we have recently been asked to review the AA2A graduate pack, a document of useful advice and links for final year students. I found the practical advice to be the most useful, in particular information on becoming self employed and that of the AA2A scheme itself being a viable residency opportunity for a newly graduated artist. It also...  show more

Failures
Etching the stone didn't go so well. I think that I used the wrong kind of solvent while taking out the pigment after gumming the stone. We used acetone but I think because it is a water based solvent it will have moved the gum and the grease all over the image. So when I use the asphaltum on it...  show more
Litho stone
I have been working with last years AA2A artist, Leighton Bohl, on lithography. I usually stipple my drawings straight onto paper but we have done some experiments on zinc which worked so we are now trying on stone. I'm currently waiting for the gum arabic to properly dry and then I will take the ink out, aspheltum it and hopefully...  show more
