Kate Whitehead has been chosen as one of the UK leading textile artists to exhibit her work in the knitting and stitching show's textile Gallery 2019. As artist in residence at Trouble At Mill her #honest pieces will be available @trouble_at_mill 5th - 24th December 2019 in company of 'Drawing with Scissors' exhibition Henri Matisse lithographs.

The Knit & Stitch Show textile gallery | Alexandra Palace London 10th -13th October 2019 Kate’s adoption and journey to find her birth mother, is the inspiration for the works she will be exhibiting this year.My collection is called ‘Not From The Stork,’ she explains. It came from spotting a piece of graffiti near Brick Lane in London. It was a picture of a Stork on vintage wallpaper, I photographed it, and later when I got home, I sketched a version of it. It’s an image that stuck in my mind. I decided it was the right time in my life to find my birth family. My birth mother had me when she was 18. I learnt about her journey before having me, and the first six weeks when she was allowed to keep me before being adopted. I found out that she died when she was 60; I had...
