My printmaking practice is inspired by derelict buildings and captures the presence and intrigue of these abandoned structures using intaglio print techniques. My work explores low-fi sustainable print techniques and uses recycled packaging which becomes fragile and disintegrates over time, to reflect the subject matter of the ‘ghostbuildings’ that inspire me.
I would like to be able to develop larger scale collagraph work to explore the potential of recycled materials as print plates, using the etching press/ print room. Being able to access a larger press will really help me with the next stage of my work as I only have access to a craft press at home which will print up to A3. I would like to be able to combine further experimentation with print plate development with an exploration of local sites, following recent participation in the Wirksworth Festival. I would also like to look at how using the risograph printer can aid image development.
