Project summary:

The photographic image is fundamental to my practice, using it as my medium to explore the relationship between a still image, the moving image and the three dimensional object. Outside the confines of conventional photographic forms, I use the camera to record unregistered visual aspects of time and space, encompassing video installation, photographic collage and digitally reconstructed objects.

My work often has historical references, with a particular interest in the aesthetics of textiles and clothing, as they occur in all aspects of daily life. The work is inspired by the depiction of fabric in all art forms, throughout art history, along with its interpretation and relevance.

On the AA2A scheme I want to focus on the three dimensional aspect of my practice. That is the creation of digital reproductions of objects using the photographic image as my material, the object becoming an amalgamation of sculptural form, photography and textile or paper.

I would like to further explore the replication of the object, in particular focus on objects that have historically travelled far, through production, trade or migration and explore the digital possibilities of echoing these journeys.
