Project summary:

Juan’s currently (Nov 2019) working on ‘In the Shadow of the Midnight Sun’ which is part two of his trilogy 'Drifting narratives', which has underlying themes of environmental rights, climate, migration and displacement. The story's told by Khaled, a Syrian writer now living in exile as a refugee in Sweden. He travels to the Arctic Circle in the quest for answers to his vanishing identity. He will meet the Sami, the first inhabitants of Europe, who are also struggling to keep their cultural identity and land rights to an increaslingy industrialized Arctic due to climate warming.

Among many past exhibitions etc. Juan has shown work at Turner Contemporary (2015), Inside Dash Awards (2016) and Finnish Institute (2019). He was also the Jerwood's ‘Open Forest Artist (2014)
