Project summary:

Josepa's practice is underpinned by a strong sense of cultural and historical narrative, examining through painting, drawing and installation practice. Her engagement in painting is implicit and suggested through seemingly naturalistic architectural paintings with a fluid over painting which interrupts linear interpretation.

By blasting her material out of its continuum, she represents it for public scrutiny. In so doing, Josepa points to the way in which history oscillates between memory and forgetting, between past and present but also the importance of individual interpretation in a world preoccupied with historical facts and remembrance.

Her Catalan background resonates in the way she engages in the search for information before the work is undertaken.
