Part of The Lowry's EDIT series, Conversations Series III: Narratives is the culmination of a summer 2022 residency at Venture Arts. The resulting exhibition shows what happened when 12 artists, some with and some without learning disabilities, spent 20 weeks together exploring how their own personal heritage may be connected and influencing each other's own artistic style and process. A collaborative approach to making art has been at the core of the residency, with the artists having taken inspiration from the overwhelming style and character of the club in which the residency was run in Whalley Range, Manchester. There are also huge comedy, reggae and supper club influences of group idols such as Sid James, Sparrow Martin and Julie London. Expect a unique show of brand new art, music and TV specials, complete with it’s very own Beaver Bar. The image shows guests at The Julie Party, the exhibition closing event.
