Project summary:

My current practice involves taking figurative imagery and paring down the shapes until they become semi abstracted and stylized. These images are the starting point for paintings, sculptures and prints, and are my main focus.

Using the screen-printing process, I envisage enlarging segments of current works and reproducing them onto plastic (Perspex material), therefore amalgamating print and painting. My expertise is in printmaking so this would be a natural progression for me.

My sculptural work also lends itself to utilising different materials. So far, all my works have been one off pieces that are hand sculpted or built, and I’d like to explore making multiples. So, the opportunity to use laser cutting and metal and/or clay workshops would be something I’m extremely interested in pursuing. Using differing/new materials will push me out of my comfort zone and prompt fresh ways of working.

I hope to understand more about multiple image making and further my interest in the processes of making repeat imagery/reproductions. Obviously, the opportunity to share expertise and experiences with other artists on the scheme is an invaluable part of the process.
