Project summary:

As a Surface designer, I am inspired by the natural world around me. Seeing the environment work to provide everything it need to prosper and adapt is constantly inspiring. My goal is to create work that celebrates the brilliant ways nature and man can come together in harmony to produce exciting new materials.

Sustainable design is a huge influence on my practice as I believe it should be to all makers. Innovations in textile design are a vital way forward in creating materials that are ethically produced and have minimal effect on the natural environment. I explore this in depth and use experiments with bacteria and micro imagery to fuel my design. Through my pieces I aim to show that sustainable fashion is not an oxymoron and not conforming to traditional materials/processes can be beneficial both aesthetically and practically.
