Take a walk with me...

Feeling good to be back in Chester, both exploring the canals but also back on campus. Since my last blog post I have been investigating ways in which people can re-connect to space and place, experiencing something in the present. I have been looking at the methods used in mindfulness and hope to invite students and staff from the University of Chester to join me on a canal based walk, starting at my point of interest for this residency (Pocket Park), recording the process along the way.

The practice of mindfulness is a way to explore and notice physical and mental wellbeing. Mindfulness and meditation are increasingly being used in mainstream settings such as schools, work places and even art galleries, to increase productivity, reduce anxiety and offset the impact of a life led in the fast pace of here and now.

I am interested to see how the methods of mindfulness alters the way a person, or people together experience their immediate surroundings and what visual and audio narratives might form from these experiences.

So if you are a student or staff member at the University of Chester and would like to take a walk with me, then please just get in touch.
