Project summary:

I am a light and text artist. I create immersive spaces that incorporate text, light, shadow and sculpture. My work addresses themes of transience and dreams. The sculptural elements of my practice represent our earthly presence in the world, and I use light and shadow to reveal the more ephemeral part of our nature.

The viewer is integral to the creation of the work, the way they will encounter, understand, and walk through it. I wish to develop new installations that can be inhabited by both visitors and dancers. For the residency I will develop table top sized models for future large-scale installations. The theme for the installations and eventual dances is ‘dreamscapes’. Time to experiment with material processes such as digital textile printing, laser cutting and print making will allow for the development of sophisticated models that will aid choreographers in understanding my thematic and visual style, as well as trouble-shooting practical issues before large-scale manufacture.

The AA2A residency will provide me with dedicated time and workshop access to focus my artwork development alongside my self-directed research developing contacts with choreographers.
