Project summary:

The
 processes
 I
 employ
 when
 collaging
are
 homologous
 to
 the
 social
 ritual
of
 collecting,
 arranging
 and
 displaying;
 as
 often
 the
 impulse
 to
 create
 collages
has
 less
to
 do
 with
the
 meaning
 of
 a
 specific
work
and
more
to
do
with
the
seduction
and
order
of
 things.

 While
 some
 collage
 elements
are
familiar
in
 form,
 others
 only
make
 allusions
 to
 objects,
 however
 what
 the
 fragments
 may
 or
 may
 not
 represent
 is
immaterial.

 Rather
 each
 collage
 aims
to reveal
 the
instinct
 and
 strategies
 to
decipher.

 The
 elusive
 narratives
invite the
viewer
 to
create
their
 own
fictions,
 exposing
a
liminal
 discourse
that
 is
inherent
 in
 the
collaging
 process.

Generally
 my
work
 attempts
to
explore
 the
disparate
ways
in
which
we
 individually / collectively
encounter
and
 comprehend
liminality.

Ongoing
research
investigates
the
act
of
collecting
as liminal,
transformative
both
in
temporal
and
 spatial
terms:
 procuring,
arranging,
rearranging,
and
displaying.
