WoW Wednesday Branding

I started looking at WOW Wednesday as a talk show, where there is a host and a guest every week. So I started researching successful TV talk shows and podcast logos to take some form of inspiration in building up the logo and then developing the identity. At first, I needed a solid base for the logo, so a wordmark logo was the obvious choice. I researched and found a font that would resemble and look like a combination of retro, and comic. So something that was prominent within the time of the 80s and 90s.

The font was not enough, as every show has a beloved host that is the face of the show and put in the work for it to be suc- cesfull. This was the perfect time to practice my illustrations and design something that would incrporate some sort of visu- al resemblance to the host. Nigels visual identity (logo) are his glasses along with some of the branding elements of Grindr. He also has a distinctive fashion identity which is represented by the illustartion of the jacket.

I also wanted to add something specific from comic book de- sign which is the element that presents the context of the story of a comic book. The font along with the black line is usually used as a “page title” element to something explain the context of the adventure that the hero is on. Using this design element the logo presents the host as well as extra information and layers of the logo. It explains the “WOW” acronym and is also used to outline some of the subjects of the show.
