Images documenting Kyudo training (Samurai Archery) as part of a residency in Tokyo, Japan in June 2010.
The training reflected my interest in the art making process as opposed to the end product or piece of work. Kyudo is about the holistic process of archery, and is not concerned with hitting the target. Its about how you get to that point.
Its also about courage and the shedding of the ego and this training process was a pre-cursor to a few small performance interventions in Japan, marking the beginning of my interest in more performance based interventions.
