Creative Statement

The use of clamps, rulers and spirit levels are just the basis for the structure of the sculptures I make with the addition of various other materials (tools as materials). I focus on making sculptures that relate to the size of each individual material. I also use materials that have a function already in everyday life and I destabilise them by creating another function for them, which becomes a significant part of the process and selection of materials. 

In general everything can be used as material within the context of the artwork and that is what is explored in my practice. I push different materials to stretch the limits of what materials can do. I utilise materials by transforming them and by combining them, then I fit them into various forms until an artwork “explodes” and a new range of questions occurs.

Research-wise I have been interested in ideas surrounding gallery space. These sculptures test the extent and the suitability of the gallery space and question where it starts and ends and how it becomes the part of the artwork and effectively my practice.
