Oil on csnvas, laid on board. This work originally a nude portrait of the artist's wife, if cut into segments and reassembled, to become something part scuplture, part painting. Typically surrealist, the works plays woth perception and relies on the viewer to mentally reconstruct the body from it's parts. I have referenced Magritte's work in my own on a number of occassions.

Oil, emulsion, shellac, charcoal, and powdered paint on burlap. A vast field of poppies, disected by a rutted road, the gallery label suggests that the many layers of paint echo the many layers of meaning encoded in the work.

Egg tempera on masonite, part of a series The Seven Deadly Sins, these arresting images are incredibly timeless and could easily have been produced yesterday.... does that speak of the eternity of sin? I wonder. The lascivious and somewhat androgynous sinner is featured with rosy cheeks and nipples inside a giant prophylactic.  The gallery label reads -  Cadmus's interpretation extends his predilection for social satire to surreal extremes of excess, vulgarity and gore. Of the series, Csdmus explained, "I don't appear as myself, but I am all of th Deadly Sins in a way, as you all are, too."    

From the Website -  In this work, Hopper isolates the dramatic silhouette of a lighthouse against an open expanse of blue sky. Set on a rocky promontory in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, the architecture is bathed in bright sunlight offset by dark shadows. Standing proudly upright and seen from below, the lighthouse at Two Lights seems to symbolize a resolute resistance, even refusal, to submit to change or nature. For Hopper, who had been summering in Maine since 1914, the lighthouse also signified a pleasurable reprieve from life in New York.
