For the artist, history gives way here to phenomenology. Who knows why it happened? It just did. The ways in which it happened are also far beyond the tape measure, the Grassy Knoll and even the Zapruder home-movie. But much of Mockett’s work here takes a careful path through what events are believed to have taken place. The motivations are for another time and place.
