Project summary:

After graduating from The University of Derby in 2013, I completed The Enterprise Inc Scheme and Lets Do Business, which has helped me create a professional profile through a series of workshops and mentorship. I have since exhibited both locally and at Debut Contemporary, Notting Hill, London and also started tutoring adults. I am currently exhibiting in ‘Human Suffering at Time of Crisis curated by Barry Martin, London.

‘Fragments’ is the working title of a new project that I would like to develop, inspired by my collection of field finds. These finds are over four hundred years worth of history in pottery sherds and other social ephemera found in Mickleover. They are fragments of a moment in time, similar to that of a photograph. A snapshot of a period or history that we can research and interpret, but that we don’t fully know the complete picture.

I would like to create a new body of work based and inspired by these finds that would comment on our filtered, fragmented existence. I would like to use three dimensional printed clay sculptures that relate to the fragmented nature of our existence, also using anonymous and ambiguous images

My work questions how we see, interpret and judge the world around us. Just like these finds, we make judgments dependant on how and what we see on the surface. This can and is very often filtered through and edited by the media. I question how or if we ever really know the whole truth.
