Project summary:

I am a designer-maker creating tableware. My whole collection is about aww factor. Having objects around so adorable they seem to be alive and keeping you company. I approach the design process as if writing a script. It’s all about the character first, the shape of the body and it’s personality. The functionality is built around the character. I hope to create an international brand with a dedicated internet following.

Each product is made from scratch in a small studio in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent (UK). Everything from the mixing of the clay to the hand-dipping of wares (glazing), happens in the Stoke-on-Trent studio. Most of the products are made by myself. Other aspects of producion are contracted out to a small family-run manufacturer. I am proud to be part of the Made-In-Britain revival we are currently experiencing in the design sector.

The lathe is essential for me to create my prototypes. Having access to the ceramic facilities at Staffs Uni allows me to explore techiques and I cannot delve in to at my Lonton studio. My objective is to design and test a range of exciting new tableware shapes.
