Project summary:

I am an artist printmaker, whose atmospheric colour, intricate texture, and distinctive imagery conveys my emotions and feelings about the natural world. In my artistic methods and processes I draw on techniques that combine mixed media and painterly, innovative printmaking, including collagraphy, monotype and chine colle. Through these subtly performed combinations I invest the work with metaphorical and emotional associations.

I direct the oscillation between abstract and representational forms that have their sources in nature, emotion and personal human experience. My evocative forms are an invitation to the viewer to take a moment in time to immerse themselves in the visual world created on paper. To discover a personal connection and resonance with the energy of colour, emotion and natural forms.

I have an MA in Fine Art from Lancaster University and lectured on the university’s Fine Art degree programme for a number of years. I also taught innovative printmaking courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, as well as a range of workshops for groups around the Lake District and Lancashire. Currently I am a full time artist, committed to developing work in my studio in Cumbria.
