Experimenting with presentation and edits
A good productive day today testing the projection of edited film clips onto fabric and adding sound files to work. Both of these aspects have given me a lot to think about in terms of display and how the audience experiences the work.  show more
Working on Premier
Having completed a number of photoshoots, with slides, projectors, various cameras and equipment, I am now in the process of assembling the resulting imagery, my thoughts and ideas into some form of film. After initial frustration and technical errors, I have made headway today with Premier and feel more able to bring together all of the disparate pieces. Difficulties lie in all of...  show more
Update on progress
I have now spent an intense period of time in the studio re-examining and re-photographing archival imagery. I have explored macro techniques, considered the implications of editing and re-purposing existing histories and am currently at the stage when I am starting to look at the process of bringing what may seem quite disparate images, together as a film. Although I have previously created visuals that...  show more
Film work
I am currently back in Coventry working on a short film with images sourced from a set of 35mm slides from the late 1960's and inspired in part by a relatively unknown female travel journalist from the same period. I have spent my first few sessions reassessing and re-visualising archive imagery, cropping and repositioning the focus to create new digital photographs...  show more
progression, new ways of working and looking forward
I continue to experiment and develop my photographs ready to select for a short film. I have discovered new ways of creating imagery and now use simultaneous projections onto printed images as well as adapting transparencies and original photographic slides. The use of a photographic studio has been and continues to be a real asset, allowing me to become more ambitious with my...  show more
Film Work
Today I have been working in a slightly different format. Having edited a number of raw files from my initial photoshoots; which have involved simultaneous projections from a variety of sources, I have now sequenced a series of them into a short film clip. The element of movement and the opportunity to play out scenes in real time adds to the narrative....  show more
Film Shoots, cables and dressing up
Having now started my photographic project at Coventry University, I am beginning to get to grips with a range of projectors, equipment and resources. The work that I am developing takes the form of a series of journeys never made; a set of faked film stills depicting a restless figure, passing through, but never remaining in one location. The images allude to a narrative,...  show more
Coventry University Drawing Prize 2013
As part of the AA2A scheme I have been fortunate enough to have a piece of work selected for exhibition at The Lewis Gallery, Rugby School. The work chosen is called ‘As I Ran By’ and is a large work in ink on paper.  I originally applied to AA2A intending to use the time to develop my printing skills and...  show more
