start the week with washing and ayckbourn

after the school jog (we were late leaving!) i returned through the fog to start my week. a machine full of washing first on the agend before turning to my 11 o'clock meeting.  to keep me company i lean on analogue radio...andrew marr...starting his week.

starting his week with several other people, starting theirs and around their table is a discussion around ( to start with ) theatre based on current affairs.

as i stride back and forth between washing maching and airer, i catch segments of conversation.  i take in a discussion about an opera and drama based on vietnam.

as discussions continue i realise i missed the start of the programme and as someone missing the start of life of brian, some important contextural information is lost.  without the context i listen any way.

continuing with my pacing i start to image a blog entry, something is starting to join up within my thinking.  listening this morning i'm getting a sense that if the arts are used to make sense of dark matter, that the intention is not recieved as the audience fail to engage.

a woman from the whitechapel mentions the tatlin tower at the royal acadamy.  i think that tower was a competition winner and it reminds me of wallinger's horse project.

as i listen and walk and think, i connect with something else i have been party to watch recently, that of imagine with alan ayckbourn.  we watched with interest the authour talk and have his life explained.  something that comes across is the scale of his literally intent.  i'll not specifiy here what that scale is, for i feel important that that element is open for others to find for themselves. needless to say that i feel i resonate with where he is coming from.

hearing ayckbourn speak and those on starting the week, i know where i come down on who might be the one to line up behind.

i feel there is a certain evitability of audience that one might need to consider while making.

"we're drenched in the immediacy of coverage"  a closing remark.

and marr adds it was one of the more interesting conversations.

i turn my analogue radio off and sit quietly.....

that programme is available as a download...later today...i feel it is a keeper.  the ayckbourn is on till near the end of december.

i now have an hour to get ready for the 11 o clock, time later to reflect on what i've heard and seen.

my week has started...
