Through the collection of newspapers and propaganda materials, I wish to analyse media intervention within post 20th century 'modern' culture and daily routine. I am especially interested in further exploration of the relationship of the word to image, in the context of media driven communication. The power of the written word in propaganda and behavioural development has led me to want to focus on an interdisciplinary approach of the relationship of art, conceptual writing and psychology: the role of the image and word in the design of the mind – how they enhance/conflict/distort reality. I am specifically interested in the scale, design and context of the written word. An inherent love for feminist and conceptual approaches had led me presently to I develop a passion for the study of daily routine, cultures and behaviours. Presently, I am communicating ideas via the tool of conceptual writing and aspects of the image.
"I am an experienced arts manager, practitioner, curator and teacher. 2013 is my year for ‘self-enlightenment’ as an Artist - the chance to ‘reawaken’ and ‘reshape’ my creative mind. I am imminently embarking on a period of creative renewal by exposing myself to new cultural experiences and concepts."
Amy seeks to combine personal practice and exhibition development with participatory activity within the community. She works within arts education, delivering high quality educational experiences to all ages and with a focus on creative problem solving. Amy also undertakes freelance projects for arts events and educational purposes, based upon sensory responses to ‘our’ surroundings. Most recently she has broadened her artistic practice to include responsive documentary photography, site specific installation and public mural showcases.
Her personal practice explores the relationship between the text, graphical layout and emotional response. Amy explores the effects of the markings of ‘time’ and ‘experience’ on our roles within society. As a passionate ‘colourist’, she ensures her love for vibrant and highly textural approaches enhances the emotional experience.
Amy regularly exhibits her own work, and curates exhibitions on behalf of artist collectives. She is currently involved in the development of a regional studio network collaborative and has been undertaking energetic projects related to the British summer festival culture.
She is available to undertake curatorial projects within community settings, workshops, residencies and art writing briefs.
