Project summary:

Focusing mainly on painting, producing minimal abstract works using a combination of materials and a variety of different types of paint creating separate dialogues about process and equality, my work often references incidental marks and found compositions as well as interests outside of art, such as politics, British sitcoms and underground subcultures. Within the work there is an attempt to try and see the beauty in what’s overlooked by many in the environment we find ourselves in. Travelling to Staffordshire and exploring the area around the surrounding area will allow me to create work based on the local area.

I aim to add a sculptural aspect to my practice and combine it with my paintings, I hope to use the facilities and the knowledge of the technicians to allow me to develop new paintings but mainly to create sculptures in a way that I simply can’t due to the lack of equipment and facilities in my own studio. I believe to be able to achieve what I can visualise would bring a whole new aspect and dynamic to my practice.

If possible I would quite like to work alongside selected students, in order to create some work. I like the idea of putting on a small group show with a selection of students, whilst at the same time documenting this process and creating a publication. I like the idea of the publication including pages that have been printed on using screen print, lino print or any other techniques possible in the print making department.
