Project summary:

At the present time a cart shed on our property is being rebuilt as a studio and my goal is to create a body of tapestry woven work, to be presented next May as part of 'Open Studios'. The building is well positioned for access and in a good location. It would be a good place to hold workshops and for me to create my own work.

I will work on small developmental tapestries (20 x 30cm) working up to a final larger image to centre the exhibition.

It would be very helpful to me to have access to Art College to focus and develop my design work and to prepare my materials for weaving, particularly the dying process. It would bring me into the 'buzz' of a creative environment and contact which is stimulating to ideas.

Tapestry weaving is gaining more attention as an art medium and lends itself to contemporary interpretation. The British Tapestry Group has a strong membership of contemporary artists who are actively promoting their work. The medium is also used in outreach in schools. Tapestry was well represented at the recent Cloth and Culture Now exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre also the John Piper Exhibition at Narford Hall.

I work in two and three dimensions and enjoy listening to others' ideas and sharing the knowledge that I have.
