Project summary:

My work is inspired by humour and seeing the beauty in everyday life. This project will be no exception. Drawings undertaken will be inspired by this theme. The project I wish to undertake will be able to serve a few purposes. One is building up a collection of both embroidered and digitally printed fabric samples. These samples will be eventually transferred into products such as aprons, tea towels, bedding and porcelain plates. Another is that I will be working on samples for large pieces for exhibition purposes (I am working towards a piece for the Bermondsey fashion and textile museum in London amongst other exhibitions). I would like to complete a large piece whilst on the project. I will also be using the fabric samples to sell as a collection of textile designs. Having this collection will give me more confidence to approach more companies to purchase designs.

This would be an amazing opportunity for me to gain access to an inspirational college environment, develop my ideas as well as have having access to the broad range of equipment. I would like to have an opportunity to experiment with computerised embroidery machines combined with digital printing allowing me to produce samples as well as large-scale pieces.

Financially it will of benefit to my practice as it will reduce the time taken to produce work which at present can be very labour intensive and so not cost effective. Using new technologies is also an advantage as I can make my designs much more complex which will give my work a new look and feel as well as enabling me to work on a bigger scale in an easier way.
