The backdrop for my painting process exists by merging vast amounts of interweaving colour with carefully selected images onto canvas. Large scale paintings allow me to implement a liberal style of painting. These multi-layered paintings create emotionally charged works. The arrangement is fundamental towards my practice. Images and colour are carefully monitored through process to create an overwhelming yet modest realist approach that reflects on my past relationships, personal and intimate experiences as well as changes in lifestyle. The subject matter is accumulated from everyday resources. Personal photographs, magazine cuttings and general observations form the basis of my studies. Children's drawings have also influenced me, in particular the confidence and urgency of their mark making, something which I want to present in my own work.
