Project summary:

The aim of my current work is to visually explore, by way of print, the tension that exists between the creative self and the restraints that time places upon us and seeks to investigate our forced relationship with it
My work so far has incorporated collagraph, chine colle', photography and screenprint either individually or combined. I have used text as a compositional element in several of my recent pieces and have also combined numerals with figurative and sometimes photographic images.

I find the process of print both exciting and inspiring, the processes themselves often dictating the outcome. Being able to develop my existing printmaking skills in a dedicated work space will allow me greater freedom to further explore the theme of time, particularly in the use of screen print facilities which have been integral to several of my larger pieces.

I would like to produce a series of prints, which I hope will form my next body of work to be entitled, 'Becoming and Being' Part two. (Part one was exhibited at various galleries locally in 2007/8 ). My aim is to enjoy the journey in producing this work, simultaneously learning and growing as a printmaker, I would like to exhibit this collection at the end of 2009.

Other mediums l particularly want to develop are intaglio and chine colle' with the use of metallic papers. I have found this technique gives a very textured, aged effect, which is very suited to the subject matter.

Clocks and numbers are very evident in my work and convey an instantly recognisable and traditional image of time. I would, however, also like to experiment in a more free, abstract way, to see how far l can develop, as an artist, in creating textured, evocative prints which convey a sense of timelessness. My hope is that, with the print resources and technical support made available to me, I will achieve this.
