Project summary:

Low Parkamoor is a remote farmhouse on the fells above Lake Coniston, leased by Grizedale Arts from the National Trust for visitor’s accommodation. Over the past 5 years Grizedale Arts and artists Bryan Davies and Dan Robinson have renovated the house, but it remains pre-industrial with no services or vehicle access.

This repeat fabric design by Laura Davies is the latest addition of art and design pieces created for the house. Seventeen metres of fabric were printed using college facilities and will be made up as curtains for the parlour of the farmhouse. The design develops the theme of another work in the room – a bureau, with both ‘folk’ and ‘Ettore Sottsass’ styles. A drawing of the rhomboid shaped desk features in the fabric design. During AA2A access other samples were developed exploring tromp l’oeil marble. The college and staff supported and helped greatly with the project.
